Headphones, Volume, and Safe Calm

A practical guide to listening comfortably so spatial sound feels soothing, not overwhelming.

By Guide TeamEntry No. 05

Calm should never feel loud. If the sound has to push, the volume is already too high.

Headphones make 8D audio feel more immersive because each ear receives a carefully shaped signal. That immersion is the point, but it also means volume matters. Relaxing sound should feel gentle, spacious, and easy to leave.

The low-volume rule

Start lower than you think. If you can clearly hear the movement without feeling surrounded by pressure, you are in the right range. The goal is not maximum immersion; it is comfortable orientation.

  • 01Use over-ear or comfortable in-ear headphones that do not create pressure.
  • 02Begin at a low setting and raise only if the sound disappears completely.
  • 03Avoid listening while driving or doing anything that needs full attention.
  • 04Stop if the motion feels dizzying, sharp, or unpleasant.
